ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 elaborates on the findings from the textual analysis of Theme choices in the dramatic monologue of Teahouse and its two English translations. We first introduce the concept of Theme in SFL, then we analyze the choices of Theme in the source text and the target texts, providing a quantitative profile. Finally, we discuss the Theme shifts found in the analysis and their delicate categories.
