ABSTRACT
Chapter 5 examines Teahouse and its two English translations from the perspectives of the three contextual parameters, namely field, tenor, and mode. We point out the similarities and differences between the source text and the two target texts in terms of these parameters. The contextual analysis provides some evidence for the lexicogrammatical choices discussed in the previous chapters, and the translators’ choices are to some extent influenced by context.
