ABSTRACT
Chapter 6 synthesizes the major findings of this book. It also summarizes the contributions of the book in terms of (i) the appliability of SFL theory, (ii) the development of “the environments of translation” and “metafunctional translation shift” proposed by Matthiessen, (iii) the validity of the analytical framework proposed, (iv) the implications for translation practice and typological studies, and (v) the investigations on translation universals. We also recommend some directions for future research.
