ABSTRACT

This chapter does the work of reading the comment section, specifically the comments on the YouTube trailer for the 2016 all-female remake of Ghostbusters. Despite claiming that their complaints were based not in gender, but instead in frustration over Hollywood’s excessive reliance on remakes, this chapter dives deep into online trolling to provide a more accurate picture of the ways that (mostly men) harassers use the words of everyday sexism in real life to engage in homosocial bonding in online spaces.
