ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter of our book builds on the prior chapters, asking readers to consider the many ways that political counter-publics can be marshaled to sabotage women–strong films. Embracing the Foucaultian concept of apparatus, in this case, functioning as patriarchal realism, our conclusion connects diverse institutional sites and communities that push back against women-strong films and women-centered cultural production. And, finally, the concluding thoughts ask readers to explore the failures and possibilities of women-strong films and pushing all readers to engage in the process of unlearning the patriarchal practices of undervaluing women-strong films in our own lives. Ultimately, we reflect upon what it would mean to look at women’s experiences of pleasure as a radical act.
