ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the growth, development, and application of employment law which deals with diversity and inclusion in its broadest sense, and age discrimination in particular. The concepts of inclusion and diversity have received a great deal of attention over the past 20 years, in part as a result of the legal framework covering such issues but also because of the development of more enlightened employment practices. The concept of cognitive difference is interesting in the context of a workforce where the provision of a range of development interventions is needed to satisfy an increasingly diverse group of people. The growth of the multigenerational workforce, the globalization of business, the development of the talent pool of labour through immigration, and the employment of foreign nationals have all contributed to people from many different backgrounds being present in the workforce. Most organizations will use a range of internal auditing practices, often linked to the financial management of the business.
