ABSTRACT

Communication culture plays a key role in the Gulf, as the locals are a very verbally oriented society. The Arab Business Code is the special communication code in the Arab Gulf of constantly switching subjects – even during business meetings – that makes communicating with locals challenging. International business people, try hard not to get lost and prefer to stick to the actual topic and the deal in question. In the modern Gulf, many of the old signals have disappeared in regional communication. Reading the hidden messages of local business people in their body language is also important for successful communication in the Arab Gulf. Likewise, not reading the body language can set off a chain of embarrassing situations in the communication with the locals. The sixth sense of Arab business people is a significant communication tool for people in the Gulf. Only genuine compliments will have the desired effect on the recipient, the Arab business partner.
