ABSTRACT
The human race has certainly travelled a long way from the time when there were no cars or factories right down to the global society of the present day. Like all historians, we have had to choose which parts of the story to tell. This kind of choice is inevitable, but we need to be aware of what we are doing and to be honest about it with our readers.
