ABSTRACT

This chapter articulates the harm that neoliberal globalization (globalization from above) has caused to communities across the globe while highlighting the resistance of global justice movements (globalization from below). It analyzes various sectors of the global justice and climate crisis movements, which have been described as the largest social movement in human history. The focus of the chapter is on some activities being conducted in the areas of land-based organizing, climate crisis, and transnational labor organizing. The chapter also discusses the importance of movement capacity building as it relates to healing justice and multilingual capacity building. A case study of the global social movement to confront the climate crisis, Extinction Rebellion, is offered. Finally, the chapter concludes with an analysis of contemporary global justice organizing.
