ABSTRACT

Many students are immediately drawn to the guitar. The instrument, the musicians who play it, and the music it creates, all capture the imagination. New strings will continue to stretch for a while after they are put on the guitar, causing the instrument to go out of tune. The guitar can be held while sitting down or standing up with the help of a guitar strap. A right-handed guitar is held by the neck with the left hand, resting the body of the guitar on the lap. The indentation on the body of the guitar will rest on the right leg. The choice to accommodate left-handed students with a left-handed guitar often depends on a few factors, including the availability of left-handed guitars in the classroom and students’ prior experience playing a left-handed guitar. Most popular music styles require the use of a guitar pick and people highly recommend introducing the pick at the start of instruction.
