ABSTRACT
The final chapter brings the story about social workers up to the present day by providing an overview and evaluation of a number of reviews of social work which were produced by New Labour governments and by the social work profession in the next two decades with a view to clarifying the roles and responsibilities of social workers. It highlights the difficulty which social workers have experienced in providing a succinct definition of social work.
