ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we share information, guidance, and a framework to help you make informed decisions about specialty areas in psychology and allied fields. It starts with an exploration of specialties as a whole, moves to a discussion of specializations in psychology, and introduces a guided process designed to empower you to make informed decisions about your potential specialty area(s). To illustrate this process and jump start your exploration and decision-making, we’ve included information about some of the most popular and a few emerging specialty areas in psychology, and select allied fields that you can use to further investigate the listed fields and others. The chapter (and book since this is the final chapter) concludes with a reflection on ways you can use psychology in the world – in this case, consistent with your specialty!
