ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book determines the characteristics of individuals who self-reported hunger, to compile correlational data with regard to these characteristics. It makes suggestions for the improvement of future hunger surveys, to make suggestions for future food assistance policy decisions. The book evaluates the use of meta-analysis as a technique for the examination of survey research. Meta-analysis was used to provide a framework for the systematic examination of hunger studies conducted in the 1980s. The book recommendations are an outgrowth of both the qualitative and quantitative portions of the meta-analysis and the investigation of US hunger policy.
