ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter reflects upon and draws implications from some of the key arguments made throughout the book regarding the contemporary landscapes of cross-border finance management in emerging markets. First, it emphasises the need to think politically about cross-border finance management. It then discusses the five broader lessons about the antagonistic relationship between state, money, and financial capital in emerging markets that the book teaches us. Next, it provides reflections on the future of cross-border finance management in the global South. Finally, the chapter makes the case for ‘transformative’ cross-border financial policies, that is, policies that empower labour in the short to medium term with a view of transforming social relations and bringing about meaningful social change.
