ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 takes the newly qualified teacher into an empty classroom in the summer holidays and helps them to think about how they might create the most effective learning environment for the children they are about to teach. It also considers how the space can potentially help the newly qualified teacher to teach more effectively, drawing on useful teaching prompts as well as creating an environment where children can become independent learners.

Setting up a classroom for children with special needs is addressed with an understanding that many of the suggestions have the potential to help all learners. The chapter has a check list of things to consider.
