ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 helps the trainee teacher to think about the preparation required before the final assessed placement in school. The chapter is ‘straight talking’ in getting the trainee teacher to think about how they will present themselves in school in order to make a positive start to the final placement. Key elements are addressed and examples provided, such as: resilience and well-being, the role of a mentee, pacing themselves. Questions to get trainee teachers to self-reflect on being a mentee are also included.

Finally, understanding the need for trainee teachers to prepare their online presence prior to the final school placement is addressed as well as being mindful about modes of communication with teachers in the school.
