ABSTRACT

The conclusive chapter discusses first the main research problem, approach, expectations and argument of the book. It then presents the main findings of the study, summarizing the theoretical and empirical contributions of each chapter. In so doing, the chapter relates the main findings to the wider literature, reflecting on their broader implications at the intersection between social movement and gender studies. It also discusses implications in terms of similar mobilizations against gender and sexual equality currently happening in Europe and the world and briefly summarizes the evolution of the struggle under analysis after the end of data collection to present day, making reference to the emergence of the NUDM movement. Finally, it restates some key specificities of the Italian case that could inform the understanding of other cases, particularly in comparative perspective, while providing some suggestions for future research.
