Reviews of the research field on resilience underline how individuals are at the hub of an organization's ability to cope. It is individuals that perform functions at a micro-level, work together in teams towards common goals, come up with new ideas and innovations, make decisions on how to allocate scarce resources, and inspire others and lead. Organizing for resilience, then, needs to appreciate how the concept of resilience at an individual level is understood, researched and debated. Reviews of the research field on resilience underline how individuals are at the hub of an organization's ability to cope. A large body of resilience literature at the individual level has been developed in the Western context or mainstream populations. The impact of natural disasters such as flooding, earthquakes and hurricanes on an individual's existence and condition has been the focus of a number of resilience studies.
