ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 examines why we need to understand Gandhian praxis as an interlocutor’s paradigm, and also why an ‘interlocutor conscious about social transition and transformation’ should be doing it. As an interlocutor, Gandhi sought a world view which would reflect his sympathies but also wanted to design this in the full glare of unrestricted community participation. He wanted this process to be a shared experience and not some unique enlightenment. Perhaps, more than anything, he wanted to initiate and inculcate a healthy questioning process during the acquiring of a world view, so that the process becomes both transparent and personal.
