ABSTRACT
Diane Moore is a white single mother. She is thirty-five years old and has always lived in or near Tampa, Florida. She left high school after completing her junior year. Eric, her only child, is eight years old and living with his mother in the Metropolitan Ministries Family Shelter just north of downtown Tampa. They had been in the shelter about three weeks when Diane Moore allowed us to interview her.
