ABSTRACT

Agricultural production is defined as the total output in quantity per household. The total output consists of the crops of primary importance in Arsi. These are wheat, barley, teff, sorghum and maize. An investigation of the respondents whose agricultural production has decreased in spite of a large cultivated area. The majority of the sampled farmers indicated that they have received advice/assistance on crop improvement. The majority of the respondents who received advice on crop improvement were from Chilalo, 70% from Ticho and 60% from Arbagugu. The livestock program includes breeding, preventive and curative services. The breeding program focuses on dairy improvement by upgrading dairy cattle by cross-breeding selected local cows with foreign breeds. It is generally agreed that the mobilization of savings from rural households is an important factor in the development of less developed countries who rely heavily on agriculture. One of the greatest achievements of the Agrarian Reform is the improvement in social services to the rural population.
