ABSTRACT

Georgia is one of the most multinational of Soviet republics. Representatives of 97 nationalities and ethnic groups live and work. The republican Party organization has significant experience in the international education of people. The numerical strength of Georgia’s working class has increased by a factor of 1.5. One of the great achievements of Lenin’s nationalities policy is the free development of national languages in our country with the simultaneous spread of Russian as a means—voluntarily accepted by all Soviet peoples—for contacts among nations. Newspapers in Georgia are published in six languages and journals in four; radio programs are broadcast in seven languages and television programs in three. The work of Georgian writers and poets, translated into Russian, has become the property of the whole people. Abkhazians and Georgians have always lived and continue to live side by side, sharing joy and grief.
