ABSTRACT

The most important date on the Philippine revolutionary calendar is December 26, and for months, Party acquaintances and peasants I had encountered in Barangay Rose had asked if I was planning to attend Christmas and the CPP anniversary festivities in the barrio the following day. Lisa, a Party cadre, had even invited me to her wedding, which she hoped would be held on the anniversary of the CPP's founding. It did not take much to pique my curiosity, so I made arrangements for my wife, Aleli, and I to return to Barangay Rose for the celebrations.
