ABSTRACT
Research on migration is undertaken by a wide variety of disciplines from economics, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, and history, to biology, and political science. This chapter reviews four theoretical versions of the causes of international migration, but clearly many of the existing versions will not be included. All of these theories have the pretense of a predictive framework and research can be cited which lends credence to their basic hypotheses.
