ABSTRACT
Establishing the Committee to Review the Abuse of Psychiatry for Political Reasons was a foremost priority for him. A logical first step was the request to member societies for suggestions regarding the committee’s membership and working procedure. The Review Committee had no choice other than to rid itself of its provisional character and buckle down to its investigatory assignment. In addition to the series of steps, the committee can invite any person to provide oral testimony, or “take any other action in order to carry out its investigations”. The “Instrument for the composition, election and operation of the Committee to Review the Abuse of Psychiatry” had been amended in the light of discussions at the meeting in Cairo. The Review Committee had no choice other than to rid itself of its provisional character and buckle down to its investigatory assignment.
