ABSTRACT
The remaining three states in the Arabian Peninsula—Oman, North Yemen, and South Yemen—all have a recent history of war. 1 This history of conflict is important not only because of its impact on the future strategic stability of the Gulf but because of its implications for the kind of wars that the Gulf states and the West must guard against in the future.
