ABSTRACT
With exports of US$22.6 billion and imports of US$21.2 billion, the Republic of China was the 20th largest trading country in the world and the 8th largest trading partner of the United States in 1981. Causes of successful development in Taiwan have been many. Foreign trade, however, is considered the decisive factor in the very fruitful development process.
