ABSTRACT

We all know that the Republic of China, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong are all typical export-oriented countries. But was there any important factor that can be singled out as decisive in their rapid export expansion? And if there was, how important was this factor for the Taiwan economy as compared with the others? In order to answer these questions, the basic causes of export expansion will be studied for those four countries for the rapid export expansion period, 1965–1970.
