ABSTRACT
The rate of technical progress measures the rate of increase in output that is not caused by an increase in input but by an advancement in the efficiency of production. This concept has many other names: “change in total factor productivity,” “change in productive efficiency,” “change in output per unit of input,” “residual,” etc. are the typical ones.
