ABSTRACT

The Yemenis were occupying the whole of Amiri, Qutaybi, Alawi and Shaibi country, half of Audhali and tracts of Upper Yafa and Subayhi, where their men had penetrated within forty miles of Aden. The Central Legislature of India unanimously condemned the severance of Aden, while a distinguished Parsee presented a Memorandum that Indians had been in Aden long before the British and that its prosperity had been built largely by their efforts. In 1949 elections were held in Aden for the first time.
