ABSTRACT

Drama encourages students to express emotion and communicate through, and by, reflecting on experience. Drama is said to provide all students with the opportunity to participate in collaborative work dealing with the human condition. The exploration of feelings through gesture, image, language, sound and space is featured in drama as it easily uses all of the modes. Curriculum highlights the importance and necessity of drama in education so that students can work collaboratively and appropriately with each other. Many important literacies feature in drama classrooms and this chapter provides some examples of practice where students are responding to dramatic works and creating their own.
