ABSTRACT

In this chapter we reflect on the relationships analysts forge among ourselves. We delve into the psychoanalytic profession by analyzing institutional life – the value of membership and the peer bonds that develop in institutions. In addition, we discuss the experience of two groups of analysts, focusing on the unique dynamics of their encounters. In this context, we turn back to the notions of parity and fraternity and look at how they apply to the psychoanalytic environment. Finally, we resort to an autobiographical experience, our shared journey into writing, to explore the dynamics of peer groups.
