ABSTRACT

The fifth chapter, Thinking about Siblings, advances the use of the notion of siblinghood as a paradigm for horizontal ties. It develops the concept of fraternal to go beyond the idea of sibling rivalry that accompanies the concept of Oedipus complex. In this way, we can incorporate the potential positive effects of fraternal ties in the subjectivation and psychoanalytic processes. In this context, we discuss friendship as a chosen fraternal bond, peer links, and social organizations.
