ABSTRACT

Chapter 9, ERPP pedagogy, is focused on the teaching and learning of ERPP. Working with the premise that there can be no one single model, the chapter reviews various modes of delivery and pedagogical approaches to ERPP. Using Kwan’s competencies taxonomy as the point of departure, the chapter presents a pedagogical framework that can be applied in ERPP courses and can help develop the required literacies for writing for scholarly publication. Next, the chapter reviews some of the modes of teaching and learning that are available for ERPP. They include supervisory mentorship; how-to manuals; course books; courses and workshops; and writing groups and retreats. The chapter then moves on to methodological approaches, discussing task-and genre-based pedagogy; corpus-based approaches; and critical-pragmatic approaches. The key features of each of these approaches (which are not by any means mutually exclusive) are highlighted. The chapter concludes by pointing out that teacher education for ERPP is a sorely neglected area.
