The Fifteenth-Century English Prose Version of Vegetius' De Re Militari

While Vegetius’ original Latin text of De Re Militari was widely read and copied, translations began to appear from the late thirteenth century onwards. This paper is concerned with the first known translation into English made in the early years of the fifteenth century.
