ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a definition of and tools to create a shared understanding of high-quality instruction, also known as an instructional model. The chapter builds on the argument that a school district should have a cogent and coherent strategy for educational improvement that does not vary a great deal from school to school. It discusses why it is crucial that everyone in a district work with the same model for good instruction, what such a model should include, and how a shared understanding of high-quality instruction might be generated for the greatest benefit.
