ABSTRACT
Greater familiarity with the existing instalments can therefore enhance viewers’ appreciation of films that can also stand as self-contained narratives. Clerks established quite a few staples of the View Askewniverse: the Quick Stop, Dante and Randall, Jay and Silent Bob, and secondary characters like Caitlin Bree and Rick Derris. The sequel begins with Dante arriving at the Quick Stop to find the store on fire and the revelation that Randal is responsible since he has left the coffee pot on when he left the previous night. Randal’s inappropriate talk in front of customers is reproduced, with the shift being that instead of talking about sex and pornography he talks about ethnic slurs and discusses the disabled. Finally, the film reaches a climax with a shouting match between Dante and Randal once they have been jailed along with Jay and Silent Bob.
