ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the Corrie and Alton bills, and analyses why they both failed. It looks at the campaign tactics, how politicians and lobbyists worked together and the consequences of failure. This chapter considers the cross over between anti-abortion ideology and politics and how difficult it was to create a law that banned all abortion. It also considers the concept of being ‘pro-life’ and how this term was difficult to reconcile with abortion politics.
