ABSTRACT

Chapter 6: From the perspective of Islamic asset management, private equity provides an appealing channel for musharaka-based investments in institutional Islamic funds, leading to a rising trend of Islamic banks getting involved in private equity deals through the formation of their own private equity funds. This chapter discusses the emerging market for private equity in the Muslim world in general and the Middle East in particular. Private equity gaining steady traction in the region has been possible since major investors in most Middle Eastern countries as well as other Islamic financial institutions have had excess money in recent years.
