ABSTRACT

At the heart of Artificial Intelligence’s (AI) growing capabilities to fuel the intelligent health revolution is the cloud. For many reasons, the growing use of AI is based on the “behind the curtain” progress made in the last decade to create secure, industrial-strength cloud services that increasingly power most applications used in our daily lives. Cloud computing–known simply as “the cloud”–is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. In addition to storage capacity, a cloud provider’s network of data centers offers users the ability to draw on large amounts of computing capacity, again in a scalable fashion. This is convenient for organizations that experience fluctuations in their computing needs. AI’s ability to learn and process huge amounts of data because of the cloud offers an immense potential to be used in the development of systems that allow to improve the quality and efficiencies in providing personalized health and medical services.
