ABSTRACT

As the National Institutes of Health puts it, Precision Medicine is “an emerging approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person.” In the foreseeable future Artificial Intelligence (AI) will support the true practice of precision medicine in intelligent health organizations by being deployed to analyze big medical data sets, draw conclusions, find new correlations based on patterns found in the data that are specific to an individual patient. For maximum impact, AI algorithms will also be used by clinicians to consider the latest academic research evidence and regulatory guidelines before recommending personalized treatment pathways to high-risk, high-cost patient populations. Brain–computer interfaces, backed by AI, acquire brain signals, analyze them, and translate them into commands that are relayed to output devices that carry out desired actions. Innovative retailers are putting AI-enabled technology in their stores to evaluate the sentiment and emotional state of shoppers.
