ABSTRACT

Data-driven decision-making in education is a process of creating a structure and system to use data to assess how well the school is performing. It focuses on using data comprehensively to drive systematic schoolwide progress rather than using data in an ad hoc way. The first step is to identify and collect data that supports wise decision-making around the school’s strategic goals. The school schedule must include time to review and reflect on the salient student and school data. These data reviews should focus on ongoing, interim progress as well as including regular, periodic assessments of progress toward annual goals. Creating regular PD cycles in which data can be analyzed by the entire faculty can flag the students who are not performing at grade level and better align the curriculum across departments and grades.
