ABSTRACT
The role of education is to prepare students for a diverse and complex world. One of the school leader’s responsibilities is to create a culture that encourages faculty and students to explore challenging concepts, experiment with new ideas, and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. Creating standards of conduct around how faculty and students should interact can help prioritize diversity and inclusivity as one of the school’s strategic goals. The role of education is to prepare students for a diverse and complex world. One of the defining aspects of education is to challenge beliefs and ideas. In providing a diverse school curriculum, the leader accepts that being exposed to new and difficult concepts may cause students to feel upset and uncomfortable.
