ABSTRACT

Organizations need a highly functional leadership team to succeed. But merely having a group of leaders call themselves a “team” does not ensure they will work well together. The first step to creating an effective leadership team is to hire the best people for the job. Leadership mindset is hugely important to finding the best candidate for the team. Each new leadership team member will need to possess two essential traits: mission alignment and the ability to accept feedback. Without mission alignment, the leadership team will be challenged to agree upon a vision and strategic plan for the school. Once the right team is on board, leaders must invest in a team culture focused on mission, goals, strategies, and measurement. A great leadership team works hard to create a high level of trust and invests in the school’s overall mission through strategic planning and communication to faculty and families.
