ABSTRACT

Lani Sciandra wrote Cool Breeze and Buzz in the author's screenwriting class in 1994 and directed it for a BFA Thesis Film in 1995. In 1995, Cool Breeze and Buzz won the Gold Award in the Student Category at Worldfest Charleston and the Gold Award at Worldfest Houston. In 1996, it was the winner of the Independent Film Channel Student Film Showcase. Also in 1996, Cool Breeze and Buzz was named Best Narrative at the Big Muddy Film Festival; Best Narrative Film at the Utah Film and Video Festival; the Trophy Winner for Movies on a Shoestring at the Rochester International Independent Film Festival, and best film in the dramatic category at the Tacoma Tortured Artists Festival. After completing Cool Breeze and Buzz, Lani moved to New York City in 1997 where she worked as personal assistant to musician David Byrne and was involved in the underground dance and art scene that emerged under iron-handed Mayor Rudi Giuliani.
