ABSTRACT

A screenwriter needs to know his/her own writing process, or, if he/she writes with a partner, both need to know the collaborative process. No one can tell a screenwriter his/her process. Every writer's is different, individual and idiosyncratic. Screenwriters should ask themselves, if there are rituals that help them to write better. In an interview for Fresh Air, the dancer/choreographer Twyla Tharp said that "the rituals we practice before practicing our art help dispel those doubts and fears that plague us." Screenwriters work best when they are taking care of themselves; it is advisable to take breaks, especially when screenwriters feel blocked. Screenwriters should keep writing, a little each day. Something is surely materialized.
