ABSTRACT

Space, lighting, sound, props and costumes to play with, and hospitality are all extremely important elements of the workshop. Medium-to-large black box theaters and empty gallery spaces can also work well as long as the people have continuous access and some privacy. The lighting instruments will be refocused or moved around by group members on a daily basis. The space needs a good-quality sound system with a mixer that connects to the people computer or music/playlist device. It is essential that playback and volume can be controlled from the workshop floor. Ideally, for the first day of the workshop, the people suggest a general lighting wash that covers the whole space and some "specials" for dramatic effect. It is essential, when the people set up the prop and costume station, that they organize these objects by categories. In the Pocha method, it is crucial that the people treat their work and their bodies with respect and attention.
