ABSTRACT

The parachute was originally used in the late 18th century to support people in falling safely from the sky. Polish aviator Jodaki Kuparaento was the first to use a parachute as an emergency lifesaving device on 24 July 1808, when he jumped from a balloon that was on fire. Parachute games are extremely popular and can be used with any age, from nursery children to teenagers and with adults in team-building events. When playing with a parachute, everyone shares the same piece of equipment at the same time, unlike games such as football, rugby, netball and hockey. The nature of parachute games means that children are generally very active; this means that people need to make sure that children are safe and don’t get hurt. This chapter focuses on parachute games such as, Mushroom, The Mongolian Tent and Whisper Game, Blow the Ball, Making Waves, Team Ball, and so on.
