ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1 (“Institutional-Sectorial Approach”), I present the theoretical framework that I employ to assess structural corruption. While I acknowledge that we are dealing with a complex multicausal problem, I deliberately abandon the simple cultural understandings that prevail in Latin America (and thus in Argentina) for an institutional approach based on Susan Rose-Ackerman’s work. Within the institutional vein, I advocate for micro-sectorial research, and moving beyond definitional disputes, I adopt Jennifer Bussell’s multiple typologies perspective.
