ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the process whereby, out of awareness, people minimise, ignore or blow out of proportion some aspect of self, others or the situation in order to keep their limiting script in place. It names the degrees or intensity at which we do this and offers a positive alternative in the Steps to Success model. Coaching is concerned with people making positive changes to expand into their as-yet-unknown potential. Through a Transactional Analysis lens, the chapter discusses this as inviting script change and crafting a more expansive life plan. At the heart of transformational coaching is a process of helping coachees to notice how they get in their own way by still living from outdated script beliefs.
